I graduated with a First class Honours degree in Applied Psychology from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh in 2010. I was awarded the Watt Medal and the BPS prize for best student and the Chris Brotherton prize for best final year project. My final year project, under the supervision of Dr. Nicola McGuigan, compared the influence of different teaching techniques on the ability to transfer a solution from one problem to another in pre-school children.

I recently started my PhD at the University of Stirling under the supervision of Dr. Martin Doherty and I am funded by a university studentship.

My main interest is the development of children in pre-school years. My post-graduate research is concerned with children's use of social and linguistic cues for word learning. I'm going to investigate how children learn new words for known and unknown objects and in which way this might be connected to their development of theory of Mind.
